Which permits back the Ecobaterías operation, which documents we issue with every job and how to request them for due diligence.
Ecobaterías runs its hydrometallurgical process under a health permit from the Seremi de Salud of the Santiago Metropolitan Region (regional health authority), receives lithium-ion batteries and photovoltaic modules as final destination, and issues for every batch a transport waybill, a weighing record and a valorization certificate for reporting under Chile’s Extended Producer Responsibility law.

What Ecobaterías can evidence
Ecobaterías recycles lithium batteries in Chile and returns the recovered minerals to mining, with a health permit from the Seremi de Salud (Chile’s regional health authority) of the Santiago Metropolitan Region for the hydrometallurgical process. It closes the loop inside Chile —it receives the battery, recovers the mineral and returns it to mining— and, based on our review of licensed waste managers as of September 2026, we know of no other plant in Chile that recycles lithium-ion batteries and sells the recovered mineral to mining. The supporting documentation is available to counterparties in a due diligence process.
We do not publish permit numbers or dates on this page. They are released in full, with the rest of the file, once a formal review is under way.

The regulation that applies to us
- Ley 20.920 (EPR). Chile’s Extended Producer Responsibility law (Ley REP, Law No. 20,920), in force.
- Supreme Decree (DS) 148/2003. Hazardous waste regulation: a management plan is mandatory from 12 t per year, and it governs transport and reporting.
- Supreme Decree (DS) 22/2025. Published 2026-05-07; its targets become enforceable 24 months later, in May 2028. It covers batteries, electrical and electronic equipment and photovoltaic modules.
- Draft battery decree. Res. Ex. 821/2026, dated 2026-02-16. It is still in progress, so its targets are not binding. The Ministry of the Environment’s deadline to propose the decree was extended to 2027-01-29 (Res. Ex. 4,225/2026).

Traceability and the valorization certificate
- Transport waybill. Material leaves with licensed hazardous-waste transport and its associated paperwork.
- Weighing per batch. Every intake is weighed and given its own batch number.
- Classification and testing. The route is decided: direct reuse, refurbishment, second life or recycling.
- Valorization certificate. Issued per batch, with the tonnage and the destination of each fraction, for your annual reporting.

Verifiable results
The cobalt sulfate recovered by Ecobaterías was successfully tested at the Hydrometallurgy Plant of Codelco El Teniente: trials from November 2023 and results published in July 2024, with 22% lower cost and 40% lower additive consumption.
The El Rancagüino press report does not name the supplier; the documentation showing that it is Ecobaterías is available under a confidentiality agreement.

How to request the documentation
Write through the contact form, stating the type of review (supplier, client, investor or audit) and which documents you need. We reply within 48 business hours and, where appropriate, sign a confidentiality agreement before releasing the file.
Frequently asked questions
Why do you not publish the health permit number?
Because an isolated number evidences nothing and is easy to copy. We release the complete document, with its authority, date and scope, inside a formal review.
Is the valorization certificate enough for EPR reporting?
Yes: it identifies the batch, the tonnage received and the destination of each fraction, which is what a producer or importer needs to support its declaration.
Do you accept material from other regions?
Yes. We arrange pickup with licensed hazardous-waste transport across Chile; route and lead times are confirmed when quoting.
