    Conformance status

According to the evaluation of October 9, 2026, EcoBaterías’ own content on ecobaterias.org meets WCAG 2.1, level AA, in every test described on this page. Automated tests do not catch every possible problem, so we add technical reviews and keyboard testing, and keep a channel open to report barriers. Some third-party content is outside our control; see known limitations.

    How we evaluated it

    • Scope: the site’s 95 HTML pages in Spanish and English, including the API documentation and the demo portal.
    • Automated tests: axe-core 4.10.3 with the WCAG 2.0 and 2.1 level A and AA rules, on a desktop screen (1280 px) and a phone screen (375 px), and Lighthouse 12.8.2 (Accessibility category) on every page.
    • Technical review: language declared on every page, skip-to-content link, a single main heading and a heading hierarchy without gaps, image text alternatives, unique identifiers, touch-target size and notice on links that open a new tab.
    • Contrast: where text sits on a gradient, axe cannot compute contrast; we checked those colour pairs by hand and all exceed 4.5:1.
    • Keyboard testing: main menu and services menu, phone menu (opening, closing with Escape and focus return), image gallery, and the contact and complaint forms with their error messages.
    • Motion: with the system’s reduced-motion preference, the site turns off animations and smooth scrolling.

The full test report, before and after the changes, is in the October 2026 accessibility report (in Spanish).

    What we changed

    • Every link that opens a new tab says so inside the link itself, so screen readers announce it.
    • Menu links, footer links and the main buttons now have a touch area of at least 44 × 44 px.
    • The photo gallery uses real buttons to enlarge each image, and focus returns to the image on closing.
    • In the phone menu, the close button is part of the Tab order.
    • The API documentation has a skip-to-content link, a main region and code blocks reachable by keyboard.
    • The new complaint form has visible labels, an error summary linking to each field and a confirmation announced to screen readers.

    Known limitations

    • YouTube videos: the player and its captions are provided by YouTube; we do not control them.
    • External documents: the PDFs and pages of public bodies, media and other sources we cite may not meet these guidelines.
