Purpose, commitments and grievance channel

Why EcoBaterías exists, who it deals with, how it receives and answers a complaint, and the commitments it makes to people and the environment.

On this page

EcoBaterías exists to return end-of-life lithium batteries and solar panels in Chile to productive use, safely and with full traceability: it first tests, repairs and reuses them, and only at the end manages their recycling. This page publishes that purpose, our stakeholders, the procedure to file a complaint and our commitments on responsible communication, human rights, diversity and inclusion, and lobbying.

    Purpose

To return end-of-life lithium batteries and solar panels in Chile to productive use, safely and with full traceability: we first test, repair and reuse them, and only when they can no longer be used do we manage their recycling, so that their materials are recovered and they do not end up as waste.

    The impact we seek

    • Less hazardous waste in final disposal: batteries and panels that leave service are reused or valorized instead of landfilled.
    • Longer service life: extending the life of batteries and panels through testing, repair and second life before recycling.
    • Recovered materials: battery and panel materials return to the economy through authorized receiving facilities.
    • Safety: this waste is handled without risk to people, communities or the environment, with licensed carriers and receiving facilities and full documentary traceability.

How it is built into the business

The purpose describes our business model. Each service line is a step of the rule “test first, recycle last”:

How each service line contributes to the purpose
    Service lineContribution
Battery testing and panel testingDetermines whether a unit can be used again before it is treated as waste.
Repair and refurbishmentRecovers units that still have use value.
Second lifeMoves battery modules and panels into less demanding uses.
Recycling managementEnsures an authorized, traceable destination for what can no longer be reused.

Swipe to see the full table

The choice between reuse, repair and recycling follows our sorting protocol, based on measurements of each unit. The amendment to the articles of association agreed by the shareholders on October 6, 2026 adds to the corporate purpose that the company will seek to create a positive impact for the community, the people linked to it and the environment.

    How we will measure progress

We measure our purpose with four indicators. Our targets for 2027 are:

    • Receive 100 t of batteries and panels in the year, reported by type.
    • 25% of the weight received is reused, repaired or given a second life.
    • 100% of batches have complete documentary traceability (dispatch notes, declarations and certificates).
    • Zero lost-time safety incidents in battery handling.

Every December, the directors review progress on these indicators at the annual impact review.

    Responsible communication principles

They apply to the website, social media, sales and investor presentations, proposals, press and any public communication by EcoBaterías.

    1. Accurate, verifiable claims based on reliable data

    • Every figure carries its source and date. We distinguish what is measured, estimated and projected.
    • We present a capability as available only if it is operating; what is under review we say is under review.
    • We do not claim third parties’ facilities, permits, results or clients as ours, including those of partners, clients and suppliers. When a capability comes from a partner, we say so.
    • We do not use absolute expressions (“zero waste”, “100% recycled”, “carbon neutral”, “no impact”) without evidence to back them.

    2. Transparency about positive and negative impacts

    • Alongside the benefits, we report the risks and limits of our activity, such as handling hazardous waste and the fire risk of batteries.
    • If we find an error in a published communication, we correct it and, if it was material, we report the correction.

    3. Ethical guidelines for sensitive channels and practices

    • We do not use seals, certifications or memberships we do not hold.
    • Testimonials and cases are real and are published with the consent of whoever gives them.
    • Comparisons with other companies are based on verifiable facts.
    • We respect privacy and personal data in campaigns and contact databases.

To apply them, a second person checks before publication that every claim is backed, we keep a register of the sources of our figures and the whole team receives these principles.

    Lobbying and public advocacy

This is our responsible lobbying policy. It applies whenever EcoBaterías takes part in public consultations, working groups or meetings with authorities on regulation, for example the decrees under Chile’s Extended Producer Responsibility law (Law 20,920).

    • Only for positive impact. We advocate publicly only to contribute to a positive impact on society or the environment, in particular the safe, traceable and circular management of end-of-life batteries and panels.
    • Based on data. The positions we present are based on reliable data or scientific evidence and cite their sources.
    • No political contributions. We make no contributions in money or in kind to political parties, candidates or campaigns.
    • Against corruption and bribery. We forbid offering, giving or receiving improper payments, gifts or benefits to officials or third parties. We meet authorities through formal channels, including the registers required by Chile’s lobbying law (Law 20,730) where applicable.
    • Consistent memberships. If we take part in trade associations or other organisations that advocate, we check every year that their positions are consistent with this policy, and say so publicly if they are not.
    • Approval and review. The directors of EcoBaterías SpA approve this policy and review it once a year, at the annual impact review in December.
